6 Reasons to Choose Climbing for Yourself and Your Child
Climbing is one of the most natural activities for humans. Think back to your childhood—climbing trees or scrambling onto garage roofs was an adventure, a challenge, and pure fun. Today, most city kids don’t get these experiences, but there’s a perfect alternative: indoor climbing.
  • Climbing is for everyone—no matter your age or fitness level.
Whether you’re 5 or 50, a total beginner or already active, you can start climbing at any time. No need for expensive gear—just a pair of climbing shoes, which are included in the session fee for beginners. All you really need is curiosity and the willingness to try.
    1
  • It’s a safe sport when done correctly.
The first thing you’ll learn in any climbing gym is how to stay safe—how to move on the wall, how to fall properly on mats, and how to spot or belay a partner. With proper instruction and equipment, climbing is far safer than many other sports, with injury rates lower than soccer or basketball.
    2
  • Climbing is a full-body workout that also trains your mind.
Climbing engages every muscle group—strengthening your core, arms, legs, and improving flexibility, coordination, and endurance. But it’s not just physical; climbing is also a mental challenge. You have to think through each move, adapt your approach, and stay focused under pressure.
    3
  • It sharpens cognitive skills and problem-solving.
For young kids, climbing helps develop spatial awareness (understanding directions like up, down, left, right) and reinforces basic skills like recognizing colors and numbers. Older climbers develop strategic thinking, learning how to solve problems based on their own strengths, height, and technique. Since there’s no single "right way" to climb a route, climbers develop creativity and adaptability.
    4
  • It builds confidence, resilience, and mental toughness.
Climbing is challenging—you won’t always succeed on the first try. But that’s part of the process. It teaches patience, goal-setting, and the ability to push through difficulties. Learning to trust your body, face fears, and keep going despite failure is a powerful lesson for both kids and adults.
    5
  • It fosters social skills, teamwork, and trust.
Climbing isn’t just about individual progress—it’s a social sport. Whether you're a kid or an adult, climbing brings people together. Kids and adults work in pairs or teams, learning to support and communicate with each other. Fellow climbers will cheer you on, celebrate your achievements, and offer advice—because in climbing, success is shared.

What is so special about Koala club?
We make children happy
Tolerance and a Safe Environment
Every person is unique, and that’s what makes interactions special. We want children to embrace diversity and learn to respect and support one another. Our goal is to create a space free from bullying and stereotypes, where no one is shamed or pressured. Instead, every child is encouraged to progress at their own pace.
We understand that not every day is a good day, and on tough days, simply showing up is an achievement. We recognize that effort and provide encouragement and support when needed.
During our camps and trips, we focus on fun team-building activities to strengthen friendships and create a sense of belonging. For preschoolers, training sessions include a short break to enjoy a healthy snack and unwind with a bit of playful fun.
We welcome children from different backgrounds and languages—the classes are taught in Estonian, Russian, and English, and we encourage mixed groups to foster inclusivity and communication.
Fun tasks and individual approach
In our training sessions adults play as eagerly as children. Teenagers are usually more sceptical to play-based activities, but there are other things to keep them engaged. Solving climbing problems takes not only strength and agility, but also a deal of logical thinking. Often, passing a higher-grade climbing problem is impossible without deciphering the idea of it's author. We train in small groups of 6-12 kids, so that the coach has enough attention for everyone, and we try to place children in groups according to their level. But even so there is a lot of inhomogeneity (e.g. by height) so we often split the group into small teams of 2-3 kids , each getting its own task according to their abilities.
